My Family Culture

The three items I would take: 1. Bible 2. Photo book of my memories 3. Recipes book of all my family dishes from the D.R I chose these items because they have a significance to me. The bible, because I believe in the power of prayer and reading the word. It will help me and my family to get through this disaster. A photo book of memories, that contains pictures of love ones, so we can reflect on  the memories that were made through pictures. Recipes book of my family dishes. There are so many dishes that were made from family members and to know how to make them will be great for our cultural background. Upon arrival being told that I have to leave two of the items and only take one. I definitely will feel a little hurt, but I will take the most important item with me. In this exercise I realize, that you should make as many memories as you can because you never know when an emergency might occur.

Simulation

Topic: The Importance of Curriculum in Preschool Why is your simulation important to the field of early childhood?  Curriculum is important to the field of early childhood, because it gives children a structured foundation and promotes a higher learning for children developmentally. If you were to conduct your simulation proposal, who would benefit?  I believe the children are the ones who will benefit from my simulation proposal, because it will discuss the importance of curriculum in a preschool setting. What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?  Within this course I realized that you have to do a lot of reading, which I really am not a fan of, but I know it is a major asset to finding out information you need to know for early childhood education.

Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. I chose my subtopic to be about child's poverty. Child's poverty refers to the state of children living in poverty and applies to children from poor families or orphans being raised with limited or, in  some cases absent, state resources. Children that fail to meet the minimum acceptable standard of nation where that child lives are said to be poor (Wikipedia). Poverty is very important to me, especially when it comes to children. Children are the future to the world. It is affecting society to watch children have no food, shelter or education due to poverty. What I've learned in my previous courses is that poverty can be control by action. People with money can help and the government can help to end poverty. There are also a lot of organizations that contributes to ending poverty. If we use all the resources we can end poverty.

Professionals Goals, Hopes and Dreams

As an educator of 12 years, I've enjoyed learning about early education in the preschool setting. I've worked with newborn babies til school age. I've recently decided that I don't want to teach no more, that I am ready to take my career to another level. I want to be a preschool director first and the eventually I will love to open up my own center. Although I have the qualification to be a director, I lack the experience that most preschools require. However I am willing to step out on faith and give the best I can to achieve my goals. In Virginia the pay for education is low and with me currently living here, and trying to take my career to another level, I feel that I need to relocate. With minimum wage being $7.25 still theirs no room for growth until the finances in VA change. I do hope once I open up my first center that I am able to become a franchise and eventually have a center in VA.

Working Globally   Persistent gaps in education and health associated with socioeconomic disadvantage impose enormous burdens on individuals, communities, and societies worldwide. Recent reports estimate that 200 million children fail to reach their full developmental potential by age 5. Drawing on our experience in North America, the Center on the Developing Child works globally to build a broader movement to achieve breakthrough outcomes for children around the world (Working Globally). These ideas I've gained from the early childhood systems around the world.  My father family is from Canada and I choose to read more on this country because I want to learn more about what they offer when it comes to education.
