Sharing Web Resources Week6

NAEYC the National Association for the Education of Young Children has a new position statement, Advancing Equity in Early Childhood Education. All children have the right to equitable learning opportunities that help them achieve their full potential as engaged learners and valued members of society. Doing their best to be supportive by the early learning setting supporting diversity and full inclusion as strengths, uphold fairness and justice and work to eliminate structural inequities that limit equitable learning opportunities (NAEYC).

We want our children to get the best learning they can possibly obtain, no matter their race or culture.

MY Support

  Everyday I am face with being my own support. Yes I have family where I live and they do the best they can to help me when it comes to my children. However, I am my own support. I have three children with a guy that I had a relationship for 13 yrs. I moved to the state I'm in  for him. Now that we are done he has moved away and barely helps when it comes to our children. All he does is pays child support and show up when he wants to. He is in a new relationship and the girl he date is nice but he still slack as a father. "My Connections to Play"

  Growing up in the late 80's and early 90's, play was very essential to my childhood. Playing many board games and barbies was all I enjoyed doing, unless I was riding my bike. I grew up in Harlem, where we were allowed to be outside until it got dark but we, had to stay very close to the building we lived in. Parents were more into letting us play with the kids in the community and keep ourselves occupied without bothering them, that was their way of supporting playtime. As a parent I am way more active when it comes to my children playing, I engage more and I monitor the things that they do when they are playing alone. I think how we played as a child is different from children who play today. Technology has taken over, so children are barely interested in barbies and board games etc. As a child we didn't have the technology we have today, so our focus were still on toys. Relationship Reflection

  Relationships and partnerships are important to me because, it is important to have a bond with people who you can trust. In a partnership at work, shows the parent how important their child is to you.  Forming a partnership is a trust that is develop between the parent and the educator. In a work environment having a partnership with parents makes a parent feel comfortable leaving their child in your care. In relationships, you have different types one can be with friendships or family and even the love of your life. These relationships plays important role to people, because they build bonds and form a trust.  At my job I build a bond with several parents, because I want them to understand that I want the best for their child. One family at my job I watch their two children out side of work hours because their parents build a bond with me and they trust me with their kids.
