I Imani Wilkey want to thank my colleagues and my teacher for being supportive in my learning, this course. I appreciate all the feedback and many things I've learned. I had rough time in this course, I lost my job, the virus had affect in my household, my kids school was cancelled all year, which made me a full time teacher.  Then on Easter in my house my grandmother passed away. My studies was off my life felt like it was crumbling. Thanks to the advice from my colleagues and the amazing communication from Dr.MCcarthy, I knew I couldn't give up. Just when you think can't, remember why your doing this, for the children. Having a good support will get you through it.

Adjourning Stage The hardest day of leaving a group, was my high school choir. We performed all over the U.S and Canada, singing songs in different languages. We were the Girls Choir of Harlem. My last performance was so hard, because I built a sisterhood with these girls over the years. I had to leave the choir not by choice, but because it was the rules, that after your senior year, you can't perform no more. Being apart of this choir, got me a partial scholarship for singing to my college. My college choir was so different from my high school choir, I knew I was attached to my high school choir ways of learning music. I eventually adjusted to my new ways of learning music, but I still kept what I was taught as a tool to make my music craft excel. Going to college I still kept in contact with my high school choir friends, and we talk and reminisce all the time of our performing days. With getting my Masters degree I enjoy having classes with familiar names I've seen since I...

As an administrative assistant, I had to write up a teacher who came back from lunch an hour late. I was in charge of running the building while the vice principal and principal were out, for a meeting. When the teacher came back, I asked her was everything okay, she said yes. I asked her why, she was late, she said she was stuck in traffic and she had errands. I said did she tell the principal or vice principal, that she had errands, she said no. I told her that this is the second time of warned about her lateness, with no communication. I told her I'm writing her up. She was upset and very disrespectful towards me and my authority. I used the 3 R's to communicate with the teacher. Respectful, reciprocal, and responsive. I showed that I cared and was concerned, however she was very rude and it could of been avoided if she came to me with respect. Everyone deserve to be understood and she had the opportunity to address her feelings but chose to be disrespectful. You have to giv...

The one thing that surprised me the most about myself, that I learned what others think, is that I am a people pleaser. I want everyone to be happy, I hate drama and confrontation. I like to communicate with others and make sure that everyone is okay. Being a people pleaser has good and bad to it. When in a workplace, if you hold a high position, you can't always please everyone. You have to be able to say no and stick to what you say. Now how I evaluate myself as a communicator, I love to speak in public, I love to listen and see if I can come up with solutions, for those who need help with things. I believe that communication is the key.I use these tools within the work place and in my personal life.

Do you find yourself communicating differently with people from different groups and cultures? I do find myself communicate with people from different cultures differently. I give them the respect they deserve, however I try to make myself knowledgeable of their culture and background. This way when I am talking to them I will not offend them. I am a mindful person and want people to feel comfortable around me. Giving people respect and you will get it in return.

So I chose this cartoon, because my daughter watches it and I thought that being in the field of early childhood education it will be interesting. The characters in this show is all about family. It's different animals, who is family oriented. Watching this cartoon, you can see that its a family based. The animals lives in a town with houses and they have a full family of a mom, dad and children. The episode I watched I noticed that the little girl pig was trying to help her dad pig exercise and get ready for a race. He kept falling and looked out of shaped, but at the end of the race he made it to the end. The family celebrated. The cartoon seem to cater to families and seem like it will be cute, the body language of the cartoons seem really funny to watch , because i was trying to guess what was happening.

Michelle Obama has been by our past president first lady. She represents knowledge, poise and African American culture. Michelle was  a strong person who is a writer. She wrote books about being healthy to becoming her own. I will model some of my behaviors because she represents, a woman who was in the public eye, because her husband was the president, but she had her own identity and wanted the world to know it. Being who you are and being proud of it is what she exemplifies and I agree. She is a respectful woman, awesome mom and dedicated wife many qualities that remind me of myself.
