A Place Where Educators Meet

The one thing that surprised me the most about myself, that I learned what others think, is that I am a people pleaser. I want everyone to be happy, I hate drama and confrontation. I like to communicate with others and make sure that everyone is okay. Being a people pleaser has good and bad to it. When in a workplace, if you hold a high position, you can't always please everyone. You have to be able to say no and stick to what you say. Now how I evaluate myself as a communicator, I love to speak in public, I love to listen and see if I can come up with solutions, for those who need help with things. I believe that communication is the key.I use these tools within the work place and in my personal life.

Do you find yourself communicating differently with people from different groups and cultures? I do find myself communicate with people from different cultures differently. I give them the respect they deserve, however I try to make myself knowledgeable of their culture and background. This way when I am talking to them I will not offend them. I am a mindful person and want people to feel comfortable around me. Giving people respect and you will get it in return.

So I chose this cartoon, because my daughter watches it and I thought that being in the field of early childhood education it will be interesting. The characters in this show is all about family. It's different animals, who is family oriented. Watching this cartoon, you can see that its a family based. The animals lives in a town with houses and they have a full family of a mom, dad and children. The episode I watched I noticed that the little girl pig was trying to help her dad pig exercise and get ready for a race. He kept falling and looked out of shaped, but at the end of the race he made it to the end. The family celebrated. The cartoon seem to cater to families and seem like it will be cute, the body language of the cartoons seem really funny to watch , because i was trying to guess what was happening.

Michelle Obama has been by our past president first lady. She represents knowledge, poise and African American culture. Michelle was  a strong person who is a writer. She wrote books about being healthy to becoming her own. I will model some of my behaviors because she represents, a woman who was in the public eye, because her husband was the president, but she had her own identity and wanted the world to know it. Being who you are and being proud of it is what she exemplifies and I agree. She is a respectful woman, awesome mom and dedicated wife many qualities that remind me of myself.

The three items I would take: 1. Bible 2. Photo book of my memories 3. Recipes book of all my family dishes from the D.R I chose these items because they have a significance to me. The bible, because I believe in the power of prayer and reading the word. It will help me and my family to get through this disaster. A photo book of memories, that contains pictures of love ones, so we can reflect on  the memories that were made through pictures. Recipes book of my family dishes.There are so many dishes that were made from family members and to know how to make them will be great for our cultural background. Upon arrival being told that I have to leave two of the items and only take one. I definitely will feel a little hurt, but I will take the most important item with me. In this exercise I realize, that you should make as many memories as you can because you never know when an emergency might occur.

Topic: The Importance of Curriculum in Preschool Why is your simulation important to the field of early childhood?  Curriculum is important to the field of early childhood, because it gives children a structured foundation and promotes a higher learning for children developmentally. If you were to conduct your simulation proposal, who would benefit?  I believe the children are the ones who will benefit from my simulation proposal, because it will discuss the importance of curriculum in a preschool setting. What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?  Within this course I realized that you have to do a lot of reading, which I really am not a fan of, but I know it is a major asset to finding out information you need to know for early childhood education.

Australia What are some of the current international research topics? Some of the current topics are about the early learning and the importance of it. Another topic is early mental health support. These topics you can find on their website. What surprising facts/insights/new ideas about early childhood did you gain from exploring this international early childhood website? This website shows how they advocate for children. Their vision is that " Every Young Child is Thriving and Learning". I was was very impressed by what they offer from early childhood care to maternal and child health services. These are major things that are needed in a community. What other noteworthy information did you find on this website? I thought it was very informative how they tell you what their advocacy goals and values are. What is expected of them.
