Getting to know International Organizations

I chose to UNICEF organization. this organization provides emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries, that have been devastated by World War 2. It was created by the United Nations General Assembly December 11,1946.


Child's Poverty

 The article that UNICEF presents about child's poverty, has opened my eyes. We have to help out our youth. Understanding that adult poverty doesn't have to last but a child's poverty can last a life time. Child poverty not only affects a child individually but is likely to passed onto future generations in society. UNICEF is working on how and why so much children are experiencing poverty. Global study on child's poverty and disparities, was launched by the UNICEF in 2007. They supported over 50 countries and analyzed their nutrition, health, and education. Assessments to figure out what they need to do for reduction has been a major role to help out. I think that the government, of these countries also need to figure out ways to save lives instead of trying to benefit from money. They need to use the money to help reduce child's poverty. If you connect with those who make money , maybe more shelters, more food banks and schools can be of good help to society.

    It's insane how long the effects of WWII have lasted in regards to poverty. I agree that youth in particular are at the greatest risk living in poverty. I wonder what we can do to help from afar to help these children and families that the UNICEF assists.

  Everyday I am face with being my own support. Yes I have family where I live and they do the best they can to help me when it comes to my children. However, I am my own support. "My Connections to Play"

  Growing up in the late 80's and early 90's, play was very essential to my childhood. Playing many board games and barbies was all I enjoyed doing, unless I was riding my bike. I grew up in Harlem, where we were allowed to be outside until it got dark but we, had to stay very close to the building we lived in. Parents were more into letting us play with the kids in the community and keep ourselves occupied without bothering them, that was their way of supporting playtime. As a parent I am way more active when it comes to my children playing, I engage more and I monitor the things that they do when they are playing alone. I think how we played as a child is different from children who play today. Technology has taken over, so children are barely interested in barbies and board games etc. As a child we didn't have the technology we have today, so our focus were still on toys. Relationship Reflection

  Relationships and partnerships are important to me because, it is important to have a bond with people who you can trust. In a partnership at work, shows the parent how important their child is to you.  Forming a partnership is a trust that is develop between the parent and the educator. In a work environment having a partnership with parents makes a parent feel comfortable leaving their child in your care. In relationships, you have different types one can be with friendships or family and even the love of your life. These relationships plays important role to people, because they build bonds and form a trust.  At my job I build a bond with several parents, because I want them to understand that I want the best for their child. One family at my job I watch their two children out side of work hours because their parents build a bond with me and they trust me with their kids.
